Richard Winn falls to Calhoun Academy

This past Friday night the Richard Winn Eagles and Lady Eagles made the trip to St. Matthews to play the Calhoun Academy Cavaliers. The Lady Eagles fell to the Lady Cavs 56-29.

The Lady Eagles faced a Lady Cavaliers team whose defense proved to be a force to be reckoned with.

In the first few minutes of the game, the Lady Eagles were able to keep the score close but the Cavaliers stepped it up a notch and at the end of the first half, the Lady Eagles were behind 27-15.

At the start of the second half, the Lady Cavaliers played hard and the Lady Eagles could not catch up.

The leading scorer for the Lady Eagles was Alex Maass, with 12 points. Brittany Speagle was next with 6 points. Jenna Burroughs scored 5 points, and Rebecca Conner and Whitney Muller scored 2 points each.

Cavs - 55

Eagles - 42

The varsity boys team fared a little better against the Cavaliers.

The Eagles held with the Cavaliers all the way to the end of the first period.

Throughout the second period, the Eagles had a hard time scoring against the Cavaliers defense and ended the first half behind 35-18.

In the second half, the Eagles came ready to play harder and made a valiant effort but they could not shut down Calhoun?s leading scorer and finished the game 55-42.

The leadining scorer was G. Coleman 16 pts., Joseph Talbert was second with 8 pts., Mackenzie Robinson-6 pts., Logan Lewis, Thomas Wilkes and Drew Maas each scored 4 pts.
