The Griffins took on the Chester Cyclones this past Friday, and the Cycys must have wanted it little more than the Griffins did. The final score was 73-70.

The Cyclones scored the first points of the night with 6:40 left in the quarter.

The Griffins got on the board with a three pointer from Michael Trapp with 5:30 left on the clock. The Cyclones went back down the court to score a three of their own. The score then was 5-3.

Marvin Fleming was able to steal the ball away from the Chester ball handler to score the easy lay-up, tying the score at 5-5 with 4:27 left in the quarter. The Cyclones scored again as they made their way back down court, then forced the Griffins to turn the ball over. The Griffins were able to convert from that turnover with some points. With 3:20 left on the clock, the Griffins found themselves down 12-5 after a Cyclone player nailed the jumper from behind the three-point line. Later, Justin Trapp found John Smith down low for two. A few minutes later, Michael Trapp found John Smith for three and the score then was 15-10.

With 1:18 left in the quarter the Griffins were down 19-10. The Griffin defensive pressure forced the Cyclones to turn the ball over. Anthony Craig went hard to the basket but he was fouled on the play. He was able to make one of two free throw attempts. The score at the end of the first quarter was 19-13.

The Griffins came out in the second quarter, firing on all cylinders. Kendrick Anderson made the jumper from behind the three-point line. The momentum continued briefly when, with 7:00 left on the clock, the Griffins turned the ball over once again and the Griffins cut the Cyclone lead, 19-16.

Later in the quarter, Josh Roseborough answered back for the Griffins. Followed by a circus shot by Justin Trapp plus the foul. He completed the three-point play and the score was 31-30. And on defense, the Griffins were able to cause the Cyclones to turn the ball over. During the Griffins next trip down the court, Leo O'Neal was fouled in the act of shooting and had to earn his points from behind the free throw line. He made both free throw attempts. The score then was 33-31 in favor of the Griffins. Going into half time the Griffins held a slim lead over the Cyclones 35-31.

The Cyclones came back strong in the beginning of the third quarter with a three and so do the Griffins with a three pointer from Michael Trapp.

The score then was 38-35. In the third quarter, the lead see-sawed back and forth. The Griffins then held a one-point lead after Justin Trapp nailed the jumper, 40-39 and 5:30 left on the clock.
