Local student nominated to National Young Scholars

Vernon L. Kennedy Jr., the son of Vernon Sr. and Mandina Kennedy of Ridgeway, has been nominated to participate in the National Young Scholars Program at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

While there, he will participate in a week long program this summer where he will enroll in the Leadership Development and Forensic Scientist tracks.

Kennedy will need to raise funds for this program between now and May 2008 to get the money needed in order to participate.

The program requires Kennedy to to earn and raise the $2100 tuition. Four (4) people have already agreed to sponsor this young scholar, for donations totaling $400.

Kennedy is asking for the community’s support as well. In addition to fundraisers, the following sponsorships are available: Silver $25-$49; Gold $50-$74; and Platinum $75-$100. Kennedy also asks the community to pray for me as he makes this academic journey at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
