Mrs. Helen Austin-Ruff, a resident of Irmo, passed away at age 50 on February 23, 2008.

Services officiated by District Elder Stephon Hendrix were held Saturday, March 1, 2008 at 12:00 P.M. at Refuge Temple Church in Columbia, SC.

Mrs. Helen?Austin-Ruff was born to the late James Austin and Dorothy Lee Knotts Austin in Orangeburg County. She was the grand-daughter of the late Pervis and Annie Knotts.

Helen attended the Lexington Richland County Schools and was a graduate of Columbia High school. She received an Associate degree in Nursing at Midlands Technical College.

Her careers included being a day care provider at Hartman Hall Child Development Center and working as Custodial Supervisor at Hand?Middle School.

Helen leaves to mourn: her husband, Mr. Alfred Ruff; two daughters, Katrina and Angela Austin of Gaston, S.C.; five brothers, Pervis Knotts (Sharon) of Raleigh, N.C., Wayne Austin, Nathan Austin, Vernon Austin, and Dennis Austin (Valeria); two sisters, Yvonne Goodwin (Jerome) and Darlene Austin (Paul), all of Columbia, S.C.; five loving grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Glovers Memorial Chapel served the Ruff family.
