A 16 - year - old female was shot early Saturday morning at the Purity Lodge in Ridgeway, according to the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office.

The victim’s left thumb was hit by a bullet. She was taken to Palmetto Richland in Columbia, where she remained on Monday.

An incident report states that she was shot at approximately 12:30 a.m. in the parking lot of the Lodge on Highway 21.

Officers were working security at the Purity Lodge, when they noticed a disturbance inside of the building.

Gun shots were heard coming from outside of the Lodge shortly after the disturbance. Officers saw a very large crowd in the parking lot, but they were unable to locate from where the gunshots were coming.

“It could be high school students or people just out of high school,” Maj. Eric Gill said. “There were both there.”

The incident is under investigation by the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office.
