Winnsboro police have arrested two men in connection with an attempted break-in in March at the Fairfield County Library.

According to the incident report, two males were arrested and charged with attempted second degree burglary.

Someone reported they saw kids breaking out the window at the library and when officers arrived, the found the broken window. A search of the nearby woods turned up nothing, but then a witness called and gave a description of the two males who were seen breaking out the window.

A few minutes later, police encountered a man fitting this description and took him to the WDPS station for questioning, said Sgt. Angie Ingram.

The suspect admitted to being at the library, and a security camera showed two suspects going towards the library window with a 2x4, and also showed one of the suspects running into the bushes behind the library. When he was picked up for questioning, officers noted the suspect had fresh scratches on his body.
