“My whole life, I’ve worked as a firefighter, emergency medical technician and with the rescue squad to help other people throughout Fairfield County”?Ramsey said. “This is where I?get the most fulfillment out of life other than spending time with my six - year - old son Jordan.
“When a family member passes away, this is the worst time in someone’s life. I’ve made it my mission the past nine years to assist every family of a coroner call that I?have responded to as deputy coroner. I believe that if I’m elected coroner, that I?could make a greater difference in the lives of the people of Fairfield County during the worst times of their lives.”
The candidate, a Fairfield County native, is a graduate of Richard Winn Academy. He is employed full - time with the Columbia Fire Department and is assigned to Rescue Three in the northeast area of Columbia. Additionally he is employed part - time with the Winnsboro Department of Public Safety as a firefighter, dispatcher and a member of the Confined Space / Trench Rescue Team. He was previously employed by the Fairfield County Emergency Medical Service.
“I have been a member of Lebanon Volunteer Fire Department since 1978 and have served as chief for the past 24 years,” Ramsey said. “I have been a member of the Fairfield County Rescue since 1978 and have served as captain over rescue operations.”
Ramsey does not foresee making any major changes in the operation of the office of Fairfield County Coroner, if he is elected, adding that he believes that retiring Coroner Joe Silvia has done an “excellent” job.
“I strive to live up to his professionalism and reputation as Coroner of Fairfield County,” the candidate said. “I?will continue to strive for myself and fellow deputy coroners to keep up to date with our education and training, state laws and equipment that we need to perform our job effectively.”
