State law sets the qualifications for being a sheriff. Will Montgomery meets those qualifications. It doesn't state that you have to have 30 years of experience.

Besides if you haven't accomplished very much in those 30 years then those years do not matter. I know of no one who has ever applied for his or her first job in a particular field to have a vast amount of experience, have you? Who would ever be President, Senator, etc.?

It is apparent that some people don't know much about law enforcement training because in seven years, I can assure them that it involves a lot more than just driving, shooting and legal updates.

To have worked for the Sheriffs Department in Richland County, you can be assured that Will Montgomery has done a lot more than that. He has the experience, knowledge and dedication to run a Sheriff's Department.

It's also apparent that some people are not aware of the operations of a Sheriff's Department. Fairfield County Sheriff's Department does not have everything that larger departments have. For example: crime scene lab, someone to read and analyze fingerprints, a ballistics expert, etc.

It is also apparent that some people do not understand gangs. Simply to keep them apart to stamp them out will not work. Gang members are smart, organized, widespread and mobile. It certainly would be nice if separation would work.

Citizens of Fairfield County, Will Montgomery was born and raised in Fairfield County, you know him! Will has a mind of his own. He has some idea that can help the Sheriff’s Department to be the kind of department that you can depend on and be proud of.

The county has a tremendous backlog of unsolved cases, i.e. murders, robberies, car thefts, house break-ins, property theft, etc that has gone unsolved for years. A lot of you are still waiting for someone to be charged and convicted in these cases, aren't you? It's not going to happen under the current leadership at the Sheriff's Department.

Will Montgomery is the man that we need to elect for Sheriff to bring changes to the department.

Being a nice person and being someone's friend for many years does not constitute being a good sheriff.

Results are what counts!
