A homegoing celebration for Mrs. Jessie Mae “Pete” Rice, 69, of Winnsboro, was held on Wednesday, June 4, 2008 at 3 p.m. at Bethlehem A.M.E. Church. Rev. Carl Jackson officiated. Burial followed at Red Hill Baptist Church cemetery.

Pallbearers were Tony Armstrong, Parlie Stevenson, Michael Stevenson, Fred Stevenson, Columbus Wilson, Melvin Stevenson and Mack Rice. Floral bearers were nieces and family and friends.

Mrs. Rice died on May 31, 2008.

Born in Woodard, S.C. on July 3, 1938, she was a daughter of the late Johnnie B. and Hattie B. Foster.

She was a member of Red Hill Baptist Church.

Surviving are daughters, Maesetta Rice of Columbia, S.C., Mollie McCrorey and Charlene (Michael) Gladden, both of Winnsboro; sons, Royal Rice, Wallace Rice, Willie Foster and Tracy McCrorey, all of Winnsboro; 19 grandchildren, Lolita (Issac) McKinstry, Jessica, Santana, Sherman, Tameka, James, Shalanda, JaVorski, Jaleesa, Josh, Willie A., Charniece, Kenya, Christopher, Jordan Trinty, Tray, Vanessa, Dalanto; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Katherine Boulware and Tillie Armstrong, both of Winnsboro, S.C.; three sister-in-laws; Ella Mae Johnson, a close friend, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Wylie, Buddy, Ernest Lee and Johnnie Foster and two sisters, Nora Beaver and Marie Brown.

Glover’s Memorial Chapel served the Rice family.
