Looks like fifth time was the charm for Beaufort High School’s Stanley Davis, Jr. (Scoop) who got the state AAAA title for shot put.

Davis is the son of the late Stanley B. Davis, Sr. and the grandson of Catherine V. Davis of Winnsboro.

Davis went into the state track meet at Spring Valley ranked Number One in the shot put. Two of his first three throws went past the 51-foot mark, but they and a third throw were scratched when he stepped out of the ring.

On the fourth throw, the shot sailed 50’ 10”. A scratch on his fifth throw made that Stanley’s only legal throw, but it was still enough to give him the State AAAA championship in shot put.

Stanley graduated from Beaufort High this year and is USC-bound in the fall.
