The Jenkinsville Town Council continues to lay the groundwork for a smoothly-operating Town government.
At the end of July, council approved the second reading of their Town Ordinances.
These regulations set the meeting dates of Town Council as the first and third Wednesday of each month, a a four-year term for the office of Mayor and two-year terms for the council members.
In other business:
Mayor Gregrey Ginyard thanked the council members for their work on the fund-raising fish fry. Council member Gayle Pauling said that a lot of people learned of the fish fry from the notice in The Herald Independent;
A second fish fry is planned for Saturday, August 9, beginning at 11 a.m. at the Jenkinsville Town Hall;
Mayor Ginyard indicated that a bank account would be opened in the name of the Town;
It was commented that council member Gayle Pauling is the landlord for the building the Town Hall is located in, and if there is a vote on anything concerning this building, she will abstain from voting;
Mayor Ginyard discussed the need for a phone line and number for the Town of Jenkinsville. Beginning August 4, the Town offices will be open from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Monday through Friday.
