A Winnsboro man has been arrested and charged in connection with a series of incidents of alleged criminal sexual conduct with a 10-year old girl.
The Winnsboro Department of Pubic Safety this week arrested Brian Gambrell, 47, of Winnsboro and, according to the WDPS incident report, charged him with first degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor and exposure of private parts in a lewd manner.
The arrest stems from an incident that was reported to the WDPS that alleges that Gambrell attempted to have sex with a ten-year old, said WDPS Chief Wayne Yates.
According to the incident report, the person making the complaint to the police alleged the attempts took place between the months of May and August of this year.
“Through our investigation, and obtaining information from the victim and witnesses, we have charged him (with those charges,)” Chief Yates said.
“We executed a search warrant on his residence, where we have seized evidence, along with his computer, and have contacted SLED to assist us in this matter,” Chief Yates said.
Yates would not characterize what type of evidence was seized, other than to state, “it’s evidence that supports our case.”
Yates said through
the course of the investigation, investigators learned that Gambrell was in charge of the swimming pool at the Sand Creek Hills subdivision, and that it is alleged that one of the incidents with the minor took place at the swimming pool.
The case is still under investigation, Yates said, and urges anyone who has any information regarding the case, to contact him or his investigators at the WDPS at (803) 635-4511.
A judge set bond for Gambrell late Wednesday afternoon at $100,000 for the criminal sexual conduct charge and $500 for the exposure charge.
According to Chief Yates, as of late Thursday, police were obtaining an arrest warrant for an additional charge of lewd act on a minor child on a second victim.
