Richard Winn challenged Newberry Academy this past Friday and put a W in the win column for both the boys and girls teams.

Lady Eagle offense

The RWA Lady Eagles started the night out against the NA Lady Eagles. The first period went very well for the RW Lady Eagles. They were able to shut down the other teams offense completely.

At the end of the first period the RWA Lady Eagles were in the lead 10-0.

In the second period, NA Lady Eagles managed to score a few points, but they still could not keep up with Richard Winn.

At half time, the RWA Lady Eagles were winning 25-9.

The second half went the same way as the first. Richard Winn over ran the Newberry defense and the Newberry offense could not get through the RWA defense. At the end of the game, the score was 49 to 24 in favor of the RWA Lady Eagles.

The leading scorer for the Lady Eagles was Alex Maass with 18 points. Next was Brittany Speagle with 12 points. Jenna Burroughs had 11. Katherine Matthews had 6 and Britney Poland scored 2 points.

Eagles get the jump on Newberry in third

The Boys game went the same as the Girls. In the first period, the RW Eagles were able to gain the lead with only 12-10 by the end of the first period.

In the second period, they were able to gain a larger lead, but not by much.

By halftime, the score was 25-21 in favor of the RWA Eagles.

The third period, Richard Winn made a big leap. They were able to widen the gap between the two teams every time they had the ball.

When the fourth period started, the RWA Eagles were in the lead 40-28.

In the last period, the RW Eagles stayed at the same pace as they were in the previous period. They were able to score twelve more points, and secured the win with ease. The final score had the RW Eagles winning 52-39.

The leading scorer for the Eagles was Neeraj Singal with 16 points. Next was Drew Maass with 14 points. G. Coleman and Mackenzie Robinson scored 7 points each. Joseph Talbert and Myles Rowe had 3 points each and Thomas Wilkes scored 2 points.
