The impact of the inauguration reached Fairfield County residents of all ages Tuesday.
As the snow fell outside, a group of students took a break from playing in the cold to watch the historic inauguration of President Barrack Obama on television.
Shantae Broome, a 16 year old student of Fairfield Central High School said that she feels “Obama will be the one to bring change.”
Her thoughts were shared by eight year old Daynia Rabb, a student at Fairfield Elementary School, who said “he will make things change.”
Shawn Broome, Jr., a 13 year old Fairfield Middle School student said “I am excited to see the first black president.”
His excitement was contagious; LaCrisha Pauling, a 15 year old Fairfield Central High School student said, “I am happy and excited and ready to see changes in the United States. He is the man to bring that change.”
Among the students was also Dextiny Rabb, a nine year old Fairfield Elementary School student who will not only be watching the President, but she will be closely watching Malia and Sasha Obama as well. She said “ I am happy and excited to see young girls in the White House.”
These students spent their time Tuesday at the home of Dexter and Lekwan Rabb.
As the children prepared to go back out in the snow, Lekwan summed up their thoughts by saying “the excitement is not only because he is the first African American President, I feel he is the right man for the job at the right time.”
