Gordon Memorial United Methodist Church held its vacation Bible school from Sunday through Thursday, serving 60 children from the surrounding community.
Pastor Walter Ballenger, who has been at the church for six years, said his church enjoys having their vacation Bible school later in the summer to allow for a bigger turnout.
The earlier months during the summer are filled with so many activities that planning later in the summer has worked out better for his church.
This year’s theme of Diving Deep for Jesus, has taken on a under the water feel for the children and given them a chance to think deeper about faith.
Each day they are given a chance to explore through crafts, making daily snacks, Bible storytelling, and recreation time.
Pastor Ballenger prides himself and his congregation on being good bridge builders, who open their doors to everyone.
The church motto is ”A small church that thinks big.” They are thankful for this outreach ministry opportunity and for the volunteers who helped make the week possible.
