“Cheerleaders are funky; they’re always acting like monkeys…” went one of the energizer cheers that captain Bake Little and co-captain Anna Grey Walters helped girls age 3-12 learn in Richard Winn Academy’s summer cheerleading camp.
An annual event, the camp is a fundraiser for the school’s cheerleading program according to head coach Danielle Little.
The four day camp includes lessons in cheers, chants and dances. Girls also play games, receive awards at week’s end and receive camp T-shirts.
Camp met from 8 a.m. until noon.
The proceeds will go toward team supplies and uniforms.
This year 26 girls participated.
On the final day of camp on July 27, parents, grandparents and community members attended a finale performance where the children showed off their skills.
