Christ Central Ministries has taken the next step in the planning process for the former Fairfield Country Club.

This step consisted of hosting a meeting with community leaders and concerned citizens to help form the six transition teams needed to balance the task of transforming the country club and the community.

Those teams are the Community and Commerce Advisory Team, Facility Team, Food and Hospitality Advisory Team, Campus Activities Advisory Teams,Golf Course Advisory Team, Transition Advisory Team, and Education and Schools Team. Each team is tasked with developing a plan for a particular area.

The Community and Commerce Advisory Team will spend time looking at how the club will be used to enhance Congress Street and downtown Winnsboro.

The Facility, Food and Hospitality Advisory Team will focus on the former Fairfield Inn. This team will be tasked with developing plans for the improvements, furnishings, as well as the decorations, for the inn.

The Campus Activities Advisory Teams will spend time on the swim club, tennis, golf course, first tee and pro shop areas.

The Golf Course Advisory Team will have the pleasure of developing the plans for the management and operations of the course, maintenance, expansion and equipment.

Perhaps the most important team of all is the Transition Advisory Team. This team will oversee the plans from the other teams, manage the time line and manage communications from and to the public.

During a meeting held by Christ Central Ministries at the end of July, the ministries president Rev. Jimmy Jones shared some of the background information about Christ Central Ministries, which has sites in 39 locations across South Carolina.

He also asked the group that gathered what would they do if they had a the opportunity to rebuild history in their community.

The meeting, which took place at The Christ Central Community Center on July 26, had a diverse crowd of over 100 people in attendance.

As some attendees shared, that the turnout for such a meeting in Winnsboro was note worthy.

Many in attendance came not only to hear what Christ Central has in store for the area, but to voice their opinions on how to make things better.

A big announcement came at the end of the presentation, which included the proposed new name for the former Fairfield Country Club.

The new name is Mission Ridge Golf and Leadership Retreat Center. With the new name comes, new hope, new expectations and a new vision of great things to come.
