Jenkinsville Town Council discussed a grant to fund new sidewalks

Jenkinsville Mayor Gregory Ginyard said at the town’s Wednesday meeting that a South Carolina Department of Transportation grant has come through to fund sidewalks being placed within the town limits.

“We hope in October to begin the bidding process. DOT is handling that part but we will be involved as well,” Ginyard said.

At present some surveying work is taking place as part of the project which is under the leadership of Rodger Sears.

Ginyard also gave an update on plans to move Jenkinsville Town Hall. The current building is for sale and its lease runs out Sept. 1.

Plans are to move town hall from its existing building into a small house down the street.

Ginyard said the older house needed some clean-up and minor repairs but anticipated it being ready on or before Sept. 1.

Jenkinsville Town Council meets the first Wednesday of every month at 7 p.m. and the public is invited to attend.
