Sheriff’s deputies investigate brutal burglary

On Monday, Aug. 20 at 1:3o p.m. Fairfield County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a breaking and entering and assualt call at the home of Francina Brown, 32, of 1378 Estes Lane.

Mr. Odell Owens, 55, of1378 Estes Lane found the victim lying on the floor with a gunshot wound as well as severe injuries.

Brown was transported to Palmetto Richland Memorial Hospital.

As of press time on Thursday she remains hospitalized. Captain Brad Douglas described the incident as a pretty violent encounter.

The attack caused internal injuries, extensive facial bruising and the victim was shot in the leg.

Brown told officers that two men broke into her home through the front door and proceeded to beat her using their hands and feet.

She said the subjects worse masks and that she did not know the direction in which they may have traveled.

Douglas said that tips are coming in about the incident and the deputies are following up on them.

“Deputies are filtering through that information to determine what is credible and reliable,” he said.
