The South Carolina Highway Patrol reported a fatal crash on Old Camden Road in Winnsboro on Wednesday night.
S.C. Highway Patrol Trooper Billy Elder said this was a single car accident taking place at 8:15 p.m.
The 1998 Mitsubishi was traveling west on Old Camden Road when it went off the right side of the road, hitting a utility pole.
The driver was airlifted to Palmetto Richland Memorial Hospital, were he later died of his injuries.
As of press time, the name of the 27-year-old male driver had not been released.
He was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
The accident remains under investigation.
