Job assistance and motivation was the topic of discussion at Rotary.

Winnsboro Rotarian Bob Drake brought in guests Deloris Gilbert and David Baughman from the Midlands Workforce Development Board of Fairfield County.

Gilbert and Baughman informed the group as to what their board does within the community. They explained that the Midlands Workforce Development Board is the Workforce Investment Act Administrative (WIA) unit for Richland, Lexington and Fairfield Counties.

Under this act, the MWDB is committed to building an integrated workforce development system for the area that effectively pools the resources of 14 diverse partner agencies and delivers optimal quality customer focused service.

The board seeks ways to build a comprehensive and seamless workforce development service delivery system.

Partner agencies include the local area school districts, county social service providers, the state vocational rehabilitative agency, the state’s employment and workforce department and other non-profits.

The services are provided to youth between the ages of 14-21 as well as adults over 21 to assist with job readiness and motivation, job search assistance, job placement and job retention services.
