On Sept. 7 Fairfield County Sheriff’s deputies arrested and charged Eugene McClurkin, 62, of 343 Bishop Squirewell Road with possession of stolen property.
A report from the Spartanburg Police Department had advised the sheriff’s office of a possible stolen vehicle, a black Ford Crown Victoria from Spartanburg County.
Law enforcement had reason to believe the stolen vehicle was at a residence on Bishop Squirewell Road in Ridgeway.
Fairfield County Sheriff’s Department investigators went to 343 Bishop Squirewell Road and found a red Ford Crown Victoria sitting up on blocks with its tires removed.
According to investigators, the vehicle appeared to be freshly painted because they could smell fresh paint.
“The vehicle was in open view in the yard and there was obviously work being done there,” said captain Brad Douglas with the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Department.
The investigators ran the vehicle identification number and confirmed the vehicle was stolen from Spartanburg County.
McClurkin was arrested on possession of stolen property charges.
