FORT MILL — Robert V. (Bob) Sikes, age 74, of Fort Mill died October 10, 2012.
The only son of the late Robert Hoy and Lula Mae Sikes, Bob grew up in Winnsboro, attended Mt. Zion Institute and attended the University of South Carolina.
He served his country in the U.S. Army and worked for Belk corporate offices for 33 years. He was a member of Central Steele Creek Presbyterian Church where Bob served as the financial secretary for 30+ years and sang tenor in the choir and sang with the disciples.
He was preceded in death by his son, SFC Robert Alan Sikes; sister, Francine Sikes Newkirk; sister and brother-in-law, Sandra Sikes Miller and Ernie P. Miller.
He is survived by his wife and best friend of 44 years, Jeanne Kiker Sikes of Fort Mill; daughter-in-law, Jamie Gant Sikes of Hiddenite, N.C.; grandson, Robert Eli Sikes of Hiddenite, N.C.; granddaughter, Maddison Reed of Dallas, N.C.; sister and brother-in-law, Barbara Sikes and Adrian Glenn of Jenkinsville; and brother-in-law, Bill Newkirk of Chapin.
A Memorial Service celebrating Bob’s life will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 14 at Central Steele Creek Presbyterian Church.
