Mother arrested after allegedly hitting child with her car

WINNSBORO — Kimberly Jones, the Winnsboro woman wanted on charges of for allegedly running into her child with her car and then speeding away from the scene, turned herself in to law enforcement on Wednesday evening at the Fairfield County Detention Center.

The repossession incident occurred at 704 Golf Course Road.

On Sunday at around 5:30 p.m. an employee with Action Security Service attempted to repossess the 2004 Chevrolet Impala 4-door sedan of Kimberly Camelia Jones, 27, of 532 Honeybee Circle.

When the woman attempted to enter Jones vehicle to repossess it, Jones put the car into reverse and backed away at a high rate of speed.

According to the incident report with the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office, Jones’ daughter was struck by the open car door as Jones attempted to back away.

Jones also allegedly asked her daughter to jump into the car as it was moving.

Jones fled the scene, leaving her child behind.

According to the incident report, two other children were in the vehicle with Jones at the time of the incident.

The child was evaluated for injuries at the scene and then taken to the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office.

The repossession personnel also followed to the office to assist with the investigation.

A Department of Social Services worker arrived at the office and spoke with the girl’s father who also was called in.

The child was then released into the custody of her father at the request of DSS.
