WINNSBORO — The Richard Winn Academy Lady Eagles maintained their perfect record this season, winning the Christmas tournament hosted at RWA.

The Lady Eagles defeated Ben Lippen Falcons 44-32 in a closer contest than some of their recent games.

Coach Haltiwanger noted prior to the tip off that this game was a more evenly matched one in the tournament play and that it would be a good measuring stick of how far his young team has come to this point in non conference action.

The Eagles have had a balanced attack this season with 11.8 assists per game — a hallmark of good ball movement. The team averages 51.3 points per game.

On the defensive end they average 5.2 blocks per game and 13.4 steals per game. The squad averages 27.3 rebounds per game as well.

The Eagles now are 12-0 and take on the Knights of King Academy in Batesburg Leesville on Dec. 29.

In other Christmas tournament action, the Richard Winn boy’s varsity team lost by a large margin in the consolation round on Saturday coming up on the short end of a 94-52 score. Westminster Catawba ran out to a big lead and just took over the game. Cameron Cooper scored 13 points and Logan Gibbons added 10 for the Eagles in that contest. Gibbons was named to the All-Tournament Team for the Christmas tournament.
