FAIRFIELD COUNTY — In the round of new school buses coming into the state, Fairfield County received one bus on Wednesday.
The district was given an upgraded special needs school bus that is equipped with a wheelchair lift.
Daniel Miller, director of transportation for the district, said this new bus will cut down on the number of trips that will have to be made to accommodate students in wheelchairs. This bus has space for two wheelchairs to fit safely while the old buses could only fit one, which ment making extra rounds to get students to and from school.
The new bus also has air conditioning and heat.
