WINNSBORO — On Wednesday morning, video poker machines were seized at a location off of Columbia Highway in Winnsboro. According to Captain Brad Douglas with the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Department, it appears unlikely any arrests will take place from this incident because the video poker machines were seized as part of a SLED program whereby citations are issued to violators rather than arrests being made. The Fairfield County Sheriff’s Department said they learned of the machines from concerned citizens who made complaints. For more information on this story, see Friday’s issue of The Herald Independent.

So a concerned citizen discovered the machines on main street. The police both city and county have turned a blind eye to these machines for years. Tell the truth no one wanted to enforce the law. Why was the "gambling joint" north of town busted and the operator fined?
