WINNSBORO — The RWA varsity boys basketball team carries some momentum into its Friday night conference tournament match up with Spartanburg Christian. RWA won its final regular season game 51-37 on Monday night over Greenwood Christian. Junior Guard Pat Pope led the team in scoring with 20 points. Senior Reid Johnson added 10 points for the boys team.

The region win ensured the Eagles would earn a spot in the upcoming region tournament since the top four teams in the region make the tournament. Greenwood Christian finished fifth in the region.

The last time the met up with Spartanburg Christian, RWA was in for a long night on the losing end of a 74-31 score. If Cameron Cooper can find some space and have time to get his feet set, maybe some hot shooting could help even the game up a bit in tournament time as the Eagles try to catch lightening in a bottle and win their way to the tournament championship.

Slowing all-star guard K’wan Brown is a must if the Eagles are going to have a chance Friday night. Brown is one of the best SCISA players in South Carolina.

The Eagles play Friday night at 7:30 p.m. at Union County High School in tournament play.
