WINNSBORO — As part of its “Personal Pathways to Success” Career Fair, Fairfield Central High School is hosting author and motivational speaker Raven Magwood on March 1.
In addition to being a renowned author, she has excelled in athletics at a young age. A national gymnastics champion at age 11, by the age of 13 she had published her second book. By age 15, she was a state title holder in track and field who was competing nationally. The precocious girl graduated high school at age 16 and was number one in her class with a 5.1 GPA.
By age 18, she completed her junior year of college, while simultaneously inspiring thousands of individuals in schools, organizations, and businesses with her moving testimony and captivating personality.
Her most recent book release The 7 Practices of Exceptional Student Athletes has had an impact throughout the nation, according to her manager Chandra Magwood.
When asked about all of her success, Raven Magwood humbly replied, “When you’re dedicated to something you love, determined to work hard, and disciplined to plan how you’ll get there, then you can achieve success.”
The career day is an effort by the School District of Fairfield County to help broaden students’ horizons by exposing them to career options and to mentoring opportunities with local businesspeople.
Following the speaker and a career fair, a select group of students will enjoy a luncheon with Superintendent of Schools J.R. Green. At the luncheon they will interact with the business people in a mentor-relationship, something the students look forward to and something that excites event organizer Career Specialist Stacey R. Gray-Feaster.
“The luncheon and student-leader mentoring are highlights of the event each year,” Feaster said.
Students dress for success for the occasion and the slots at the luncheon are competitive, reserved for the best and brightest at FCHS. The Herald Independent was among the businesses honored to participate in the event and help shape the youth of Fairfield County.
