Fairfield Rescue Squad begins fund raising drive

The Fairfield Rescue Squad is beginning a fundraising event to acquire some much-needed rescue equipment.

In the letter sent to residents, the Rescue Squad is quoted as saying: ‘Fairfield County Rescue Squad needs your help! We are in the process of acquiring rescue equipment to better serve the community. As the cost of equipment continues to rise, so does our need for your support. The equipment needed by the rescue squad will assist in providing the following types of rescue service:

1) Vehicle Extrication

2) Water Rescue

3) Land Search & Rescue

4) Water Recovery

In addition to the specialized rescue services we provide, Fairfield County Rescue Squad is a Certified Rescue Provider for Fairfield County.

‘Important Facts:

2008 calls = 150

Volunteer hours = 250

No. of Rescue Vehicles = 3

No. of Volunteers = 35

‘In order to provide these services, our volunteers have devoted many hours of their personal time to rescue and medical training, and will continue to devote their time to obtain the many skills needed to provide life saving services.

‘This is our annual fund drive and your chance to help out. We will not be calling on our residents by phone this year for donations....All donations will help our organization to continue providing these important services at the highest standards.

‘The Rescue Squad receives 100% of your donation. Send more or less, but please send something.

‘In appreciation for your support, please find enclosed a coupon for a free photography setting and family portrait. This offer comes at no additional cost to the department.

Portraits will be taken at the Fairfield County Rescue Squad, 100 Rescue Squad Ave, Winnsboro, on Sunday April 26, 2009 from 12 am-6 pm Call 800-253-2638 for an appointment.

‘REMEMBER! We rely heavily on donations to survive. Our volunteers are proud of the services we provide to people in Fairfield County, and while we hope you and your family never have to call on us, we are here if you need us.’

The Rescue Squad’s annual fund drive asks for donations of $35, $50, $100 or any other amount, and offers as a thank you gift the chance for residents to get the free photography setting and family portrait.
