A special dedication took place at Richard Winn Academy on April 14 marking the opening of a learning center and remembering the smile and laughter of a special young lady.

The Ally Douglass Memorial Learning Center cornerstone was unveiled at the dedication with plans for the center to be operational at the open of the next school year.

The center will house 20 new computers, a Smart Board, Projectors and more for RWA students and staff to utilize.

Funds for the center have been raised by memorials to Ally, the Senior Class of 2009 and by a Lutz Foundation Grant.

The entire student body along with Ally’s family and friends were in attendance for the unveiling.

In a touching dedication from the acting Heads of School, Kenneth Atkerson and Tony Caulder

remembered Ally by using the letters in her name:

A, describing how Active Ally was in her school, church, and home life,

L, describing Ally’s Laughter and constant big smile,

L, for her leadership, and

Y, for You, how Ally always looked out for others.

Memorials are still being accepted for the center where the memory of a special young lady will live on.
