School Board holds public hearing on budget

The Board of Trustees of Fairfield County School District will hold a Public Hearing at 6:00 P.M. on Monday, June 8, 2009, at the Fairfield County School District Office located at 1226 Hwy. 321 South, Winnsboro, SC 29180, regarding the 2009 - 2010 General Fund Budget. The proposed budget for the 2009 -2010 fiscal year is $32,312,815 compared to the 2008 - 2009 original operating general fund budget of $34,223,927 which represents a decrease of 5.6%.

Operating millage for the 2008 -2009 fiscal year is 194.4. The requested millage for 2009-2010 is expected to be 203.1. The budget is subject to change based on the final appropriations bill passed by the legislature and the Board of Trustees.

Also, you may need to explain why an incentive is given at the end of a high school career. I expect more out of the Herald Independent. I do note that the Board received a short explanation at the end of your article.I would have thought their statement would have incited your curiosity to delve a little deeper. Thank you.

In your article lauding Mr. Henry Miller for his generosity, it was not clear whether what the source of the money was. His account? or the account of the School District? Please correct or clarify this in your next paper.
