This was a subject that he touched on when he addressed the large group of friends and family that had gathered to celebrate this young man on his birthday party last Saturday
“I talked about the beauty of suffering, and how God just builds our faith up. And I spoke of how important it is to become children of God, so that our suffering counts. If we’re not children of God, then we can’t expect the glory that God has promised to give us, through our suffering,” he said.
“I also answered the question of ‘Why do bad things happen to good people?’ And the answer is, they don’t happen to good people, because the Bible says all things work for the good of those who love God,” he said.
“The Word says it, so that’s it. It may not look good, it may not feel good, but we’re made of a body and we’re made of a soul. And what’s good for our body is not always what’s good for our soul. God is always looking for the great good out of us all,” Brian said.
Ask him how he's endured the tough days, the days of pain, the days of suffering, and he answers, “I don’t do it. God does it. It’s Him working through me.
“It’s nothing that I’ve done, because it’s been so perfect, God has worked it out so that I can understand it. I can see it. He has revealed it to me, and that’s a blessing to me. I know that it’s not by my own power, because if it had been by my own power, I might have given up a long time ago.”
Before the accident, in the days when he played on the Fairfield Griffin varsity football team, Brian Moore was always possessed of a lightness of spirit, but the accident only deepened his faith. He was always a strong guy, but now his faith was a strong as his muscles.
“God has been encouraging me, pushing me along, and it’s been a blessing.”
‘A blessing’ is an unusual word to describe what has happened to Brian, but that’s how he sees it.
“I’ve always wondered why this happened to me, but just like Job, He doesn’t have to answer to us, but He always offers a subtle word, so that you know your suffering is not in vain.
“Just like Job, He let him know that ‘I’ve got you. Just trust Me.’
“So now, I can praise God for my accident. I can thank Him for my accident, because I would not be good in the soul had I not been in that accident,” he said.
Brian tells the story of when his faith began to deepen and develop stronger muscles.
“It happened one night, at two o’clock in the morning, at my rehab center in Charlotte. I was in so much pain, that I was actually fearing for my life.
“I started singing praises to God, and when I started singing praises to Him, He let me know, ‘Brian, I’ve got you. Just trust me’
“And from that day forward, I’ve had a smile on my face, because I know that God has got my back. If He can save me from the fear of death, then He can save me from anything.”
