A former McDonald’s employee was arrested last week for her involvement in a robbery at the local restaurant chain last month.

Courtney Rivers, 18, was arrested at 12:46 p.m. on Friday by Winnsboro Public Safety.

“She left employment approximately a week before the robbery took place,” said Interim Chief of Public Safety Freddie Lorick.

Lorick predicted early in the investigation that the break-in was committed by either an employee or ex-employee.

On Nov. 28, Winnsboro DPS was dispatched to McDonald’s, 23 Hwy. 321 Bypass South, at 5:38 a.m. after manager Lovonia Rivers reported that the restaurant’s north door was unlocked and the safe door was ajar. An undetermined amount of money was stolen.

The teenager is the daughter of one of the managers currently employed with McDonald’s. She was released shortly after being arrested on a $5,000 PR bond.

Prior to the arrest, several polygraphs were administered. However, the younger Rivers was not given one.

“Several more (polygraphs) are expected in the upcoming days,” Lorick said.

The investigation is still ongoing, and other arrest are expected.
