A Columbia man walked away from an early morning crash Monday without any injuries after driving down an embankment and hitting a tree.
Nathan Ellis was traveling on Interstate 77, about 12 miles east of Winnsboro, when he lost control of his 2001 Ford pickup.
Lance Corporal Billy Elder, Communications Relations Officer with the S.C. Highway Patrol, said Ellis ran off the left side, then the right side of the highway before driving down the embankment and finally hitting a tree.
Elder said Ellis was wearing his seat belt during the crash and did not report any injuries.
The accident is still under investigation.
On May 3, a two-vehicle accident took place on Highway 34, approximately four miles from Ridgeway.
Larry Russ, of Columbia, was traveling westbound in a 1999 Ford pickup, when he was struck by Scott Young, of Winnsboro, who was traveling eastbound in a 2006 Cadillac.
Elder said Young was charged with Driving Under the Influence (DUI).
Both men reported injuries and were transported to a hospital.
