WINNSBORO — For those reliving their glory days playing high school football or maybe even college football, there will be a chance to lace up their cleats and compete one more time: Alumni football is coming to Winnsboro.

Gridiron Alumni is planning several full contact alumni football games. The organization travels the nation pitting old football rivals against each other one more time.

Gridiron Alumni was founded in 2010 and has raised over $150,000 for schools and charities using alumni football games as a fund-raising vehicle. Gridiron Alumni football has changed lives, communities and has given thousands of men their spark back by letting them play the game once again.

Players are needed and the first 40 players on each team get to play. The team that has 30 people registered first receives home field advantage in the game. This spring, hundreds of players and thousands of fans swarmed stadiums to watch their hometown heroes strap it on one more time.

Gridiron Alumni is targeting more of the biggest rivalries in the nation for it’s Gridiron Alumni Rivalry Series. Teams from Fairfield Central, Richard Winn Academy and Blythewood, as well as other area teams are forming now. The games are set for early spring.
